Title 1
HHES Title I Overview (24-25)
Horrell Hill Elementary was identified as a Title I school for the 2024-2025 school year. This means that our school will receive additional funding to support academic growth and performance. Title I is the largest federal aid program for K-12 schools under ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). The purpose of Title I, Part A is to help local educational agencies (LEAs) improve teaching and learning in high-poverty schools and help children failing or most at risk of failing meet challenging state academic standards by doing the following:
- Providing an enriched and accelerated educational program;
- Promoting schoolwide reform through schoolwide programs or through additional services that increase the amount and quality of instructional time;
- Significantly upgrading the quality of instruction by providing staff with substantial opportunities for professional development; and
- Affording parents meaningful opportunities to participate in the education of their children at home and at school.
As a Title I school, all activities are aligned with data gathered from our Comprehensive Needs Assessment developed last spring which included academic and behavior data. The activities address the ten Title 1 Reform Strategies listed below:
1. Provide opportunities to meet challenging academic standards;
2. Use of effective instructional strategies;
3. Provide additional assistance to students;
4. Assist in early childhood programs transition;
5. Ensure instruction by properly certified teachers;
6. Provide professional development for teachers and staff;
7. Recruit and retain highly effective teachers;
8. Provide meaningful parent/family engagement;
9. Include teachers in the decision-making process to improve instruction; and
10. Coordinate programs with ESSA
We are excited about this new opportunity to provide our students with additional resources to enhance the general curriculum and promote academic excellence through evidence-based best practices.
