Literacy and Read to Succeed

Literacy is the cornerstone of academic success and lifelong learning. The South Carolina Read to Succeed Act (Act 284), strengthened by Act 114 in 2024, aims to ensure that every student reads proficiently by the end of third grade. This initiative provides targeted interventions, including summer reading camps and professional development for educators, all grounded in the science of reading. By aligning instruction with evidence-based practices, the Act supports students in achieving their full potential.

You can also review a copy of our school's Reading Plan that was submitted to document how reading and writing instruction and intervention align with the science of reading, structured literacy, and foundational literacy skills.
